The Glendelvine stretch of the Tay has some excellent fly water and is fabled as the beat where Miss Georgina Ballantine caught her record 64lb salmon in 1922. The fish remains the largest salmon caught on rod and line in the British Isles to this day. The beat flows through stunning countryside with magnificent trees and views towards Birnam Hill. There is excellent fishing in most heights of water for up to five rods. The fishing at Glendelvine has been let to a syndicate for many years, fishing both banks on three alternate days of the week.
There are opportunities to join the syndicate from time to time. If you would like more information about this please contact Glendelvine estate office. However those wishing to fish the Glendelvine/Murthly water by the day or week can do so on Murthly days (Beat 1) & this can be booked directly with Murthly estate. Those fishing at Murthly or nearby are most welcome to stay in Miss Ballantine’s Cottage, which overlooks the boat pool where the “Homeric battle” took place and is now an enchanting holiday home. Please contact Glendelvine estate office to book.
